Personal touches for the win!
MY FAVOURITE! I repeat, my absolutely favourite part of every wedding I've ever been a part of is the personal touches that a bride and groom can add in to make their day memorable, comfortable and different. Personal touches to your wedding day are simply put, a game changer. Although we always find ourselves searching for what's on trend when planning for your wedding day- it's actually the things that set your day a part from others that are the most memorable for guests, family and friends and of course you and your spouse.
Personal touches can include a variety of elements. It might be decor pieces that have been repurposed. It might include your great-grandmothers cake topper on display for your guests to see. Maybe it's a signature drink for the bride and groom using your favourite beverages.
Adding in personal touches does NOT need to be expensive it just requires a bit of thought.
It's truthfully very easy to do. Many of my brides and grooms have commented after their wedding that those small simple personal touches are the things they are the most proud to include on their special day, while guests feel comforted and included by seeing them during the ceremony and reception.
Here are just a few of our favourites personal touches from various weddings that made the cut.
VENUE:
M+L invited their nearest and dearest to the brides family property and said their vows where Meghan and her sisters grew up. It doesn't get anymore homegrown than that! Talk about making guest feel special, included and leaving a lasting memory of how personal M+L's day truly was for them.
FUR BABIES:
If they're a special part of your life... include them. N+C told me from the moment we met- "Our dogs are walking down the aisle, they're our babies." I can't tell you how many times I heard guests say "I knew they'd include the dogs somehow." If it's true to who you are, embrace it and use it!
FOR THE BOYS:
If expensive whiskey in a proper dram is your celebratory thing... then you better make sure you've got a good bottle on hand. This personal touch wasn't necessarily for the guests, although we have helped plan a pretty cool whiskey and wine bar before. This personal touch was a gift from bride to the groom to share with him groomsmen while getting ready. Again, if it's true to your character- plan for it. It's going to bring you comfort and a great memory to reflect back on.
SOMETHING BORROWED:
This next one gives us all the feels. Including something borrowed in your day not just for yourself, but for all guests to see is a real crowd pleaser. Below you'll see an intimate head table designed for 6 using great, great-grandma's antique table. The memories that have been shared around that table would tell one heck of a story, now add "best day of your life" to the memory list.
Lastly, FIRST DATE ELEMENTS:
So you had park-street pops popsicles on your first date? BOOK EM'!
Perch from the Port Dover Beach? BOOK THEM!
Hot Chocolate and a snowy walk down the pier? HOT CHOCOLATE BAR!
Bowling with draft beer and hot dogs? RENT A KEG and midnight snack it with pigs and a blanket!
Movies with popcorn? POP CORN BAR and a cute movie quote game during dinner.
We can go on and on... Have your MC explain your love story and how your personal touches are incorporated to guests and they'll remember it forever.
Let us know how we can help you incorporate your most personal touches into your wedding day.
Happy Planning!
