You're engaged! Now what?

YES, girl, YES! All those years of day dreaming over rom-com's and critiquing friends and family members weddings to your likes and dislikes can finally come together- pen to paper. Your wedding planning can begin! Congratulations on your engagement, the hype is well deserved- but now what?!

Follow the below steps to make sure you check off all the boxes of proper engagement etiquette AND get the most out of your engagement excitement.

ONE- Call mom and dad, PLEASE. Obviously then followed by siblings and any other close family member that needs to get in on the inside scoop. No parent or sibling should ever find out second hand via social media about a loved ones engagement. Although this is a pretty straight forward tip number one, you'd be surprised.

TWO- Get a mani girlfriend. Everyone and their kitten will be asking to see your new piece of hardware. We suggest something simple and classic like a neutral shade and one all over colour. No sparkles or accent fingers, let the ring do the talking.

THREE- Post a selfie! You, your fiancé and the ring of course.

FOUR- CHEERS! Celebrate with your closest- this is your time to shine.

FIVE- Get your ring sized and insured.

SIX- Discuss a date with your fiancé, potentially a venue or at least your preferred location, narrow down a wedding size and start to discuss a budget. These are the biggies that you'll want to have a handle on before going any farther with your planning.

SEVEN- Start collecting your inspiration! Wedding magazines, blogs, Pinterest and our personal favourite, Instagram.

EIGHT- Begin interviewing a planner and or wedding professionals/vendors. Wedding planners do not need to be included in your full planning process. Many participate only a few short weeks before your wedding date and can help coordinate the day of to smooth out any possible bumps in the road. You can also use a wedding planner as a consultant throughout your planning process. Discuss referrals, budgeting, scheduling and more.

NINE- ENJOY EVERY STEP! Don't put the cart before the horse and rush right into planning. Sleep on it, enjoy the moment- enjoy your engagement phase of your relationship and move into the bones of planning when you're ready. This is an exciting time in your life for both you, your fiancé and your family members soak it in!

Congratulations from Forty-Two Eighty Events!
